Cheap car hire in Tunisia should mean a fair price on a decent car, not a stripped-down deal that grows at the counter. Our city cars start at about €29 a day — 300 DT for 3 days, roughly €88 — with unlimited mileage and basic insurance included.

The price you see is the price you pay. No airport surcharge, no admin fee, and no credit card needed to book: you pay in dinars when you collect the car. A refundable deposit of €500 (€700 for SUVs and larger cars, €3,000 for premium cars) stands in for the insurance excess and is returned in full when you bring the car back in good condition.

Three ways to pay less without downgrading the car: hire for 7 days or more and you get 5% off; hire for 14 days or more and you get 10% off; or book at least 14 days ahead and you get 10% off even on a short hire. Discounts never stack — the best one applies automatically. From 5 days, one extra is on us: a second driver or a child seat.

In practice a city car works out at around 665 DT (about €196) a week and 1 260 DT for two weeks, delivered to the airport or your hotel. For several months, long-term hire goes lower still.

The real trap with cheap car hire is elsewhere: large credit-card deposit holds, insurance sold at the desk, and fuel billed back at a premium. None of that here — a clear contract, a checked car, a price in dinars, and a WhatsApp number that answers for the whole rental.
